Marie Josephine Mercer nee Gentili, 89 of Columbia, Illinois. formerly of Cahokia, Illinois born October 6, 1922 in St. Louis, Missouri. passed away on July 15, 2012 at St. Anthony's Hospital, St. Louis Missouri.

Mrs. Mercer was a former member of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church and Holy Family Catholic Church in Cahokia, IL.

Preceded in death by her husband George B. Mercer Jr. her parents, Joseph & Lena nee Lombardo , Gentili .

Surviving are her children; John Mercer of Columbia, Illinois, Joe (Debbie) Mercer of Columbia, Illinois, Jamie (Mary) Mercer of Waterloo, Illinois, Jerry (Carla) Mercer of Waterloo, Illinois. 2 sister, Josephine Gentili and Rita Maness both of St. Louis, Missouri. Grandchildren Jeff (Cheryl), Patrick (Kristin), Nicholas (Ashley), Matthew, Andy (Jennifer), Ryan, Sam, Madison, Joe, McClane Mercer. Great Grandchildren Chloe, Jensen, Laci, Jackson. She was a dear sister in law, Aunt, cousin and friend to all.

Visitation will be on Tuesday July 17, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois.

Funeral procession will leave at 9:45 am on Wednesday July 18, 2012 from Braun Family Funeral Home to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for 10:00 am mass with Father Carl Scherrer officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks Natl. Cemetery St. Louis, Missouri.
